Advance rent in Bangladesh
The Premises Rent Control Act 1991 says no salami or premium may be taken, and no more than one month's rent in advance without the Rent Controller's approval. Dhaka North's January 2026 guidelines say one to three months. Many Dhaka landlords still ask for more. Whatever is paid, get a receipt and write the amount into the agreement, and agree how it is settled when the tenant leaves.
